About

Monica Tinyo is a Senior Associate at Luminary Labs. With a background in social and business innovation, she is passionate about bringing lofty ideas to life. She has worked with both local community organizations and Fortune 50-1000 companies, where she learned to thrive in the shifting spaces between micro and macro.

Prior to joining Luminary Labs, Monica served as vice president of a nonprofit organization that empowers K-12 educators, where she led a rebranding initiative and field-building efforts, solidifying two NYC Department of Education contracts and increasing the network fivefold. While serving as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Prehype Venture Development, she worked with a suite of corporate clients and co-founded a summer camp-in-your-backyard that allowed hundreds of children to experience summer camp during the pandemic. She also served as founding operations manager at Intermedia Labs (named Fast Company’s Most Innovative Company in 2018).

Monica holds a Master of Fine Arts in Product Design from Parsons School of Design, where she was a Dean Merit Scholar. She also holds a B.A. in Art and Architectural History from Wesleyan University. When she is not absorbed in research, she is an enthusiastic educator and an avid crafter and silversmith. She also loves to talk about her experiences with communal living.
