Janna Gilbert is Partner and the CEO at Luminary Labs, a strategy and innovation consultancy that tackles some of the world’s most complex challenges on behalf of government, philanthropic, and Fortune 500 clients. With more than 20 years of experience in consulting, Janna brings a rare combination of cross-industry expertise, a deep understanding of how to design and implement programs for real-world impact, and a steadfast commitment to building and sustaining a strong, values-driven firm.

Since joining Luminary Labs in 2013, Janna has played a central role in shaping the company’s evolution and growth. She led the expansion of the firm’s capabilities, developed Luminary Labs’ open innovation service line, and guided its entry into new sectors. In recent years, Janna has overseen client engagements focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to unlock new insights and possibilities, helping organizations responsibly leverage emerging technologies to create meaningful change.

Prior to Luminary Labs, Janna was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company, where she advised clients across industries on innovation, growth strategy, and marketing and sales. She has been involved with the nonprofit Women in Innovation (WIN) since its inception and currently serves on the WIN Emeritus Council. Janna also designed and developed the program, curriculum, and content for the inaugural course on business model prototyping at the School of Visual Arts.

Janna holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She delights in her two children and enjoys skiing, hiking, discovering great food, and exploring Brooklyn with her family.
